Math 7.2 aims to complete content covered in the standards for Common Core Math 8 and a significant portion of Algebra 1 content. This is a fast paced class. By the end of eighth grade, students who are successful Math 7.2 will be completing the equivalent of an honors geometry course, and will be prepared to enter high school in an Algebra 2 class.
Below are notes that we've taken in class. This will be helpful for many of you to make sure that your collection of notes are complete. if your absent, please check this site to download the notes. I'm looking forward to extending your knowledge and increasing your love for math! Let's do it!! |
ExponentsThis is the first module of 8th grade material and will focus on the rules of exponents and scientific notation.
GeometryThe second and third modules of 8th grade math cover the concepts of congruence and similarity. These units will also cover triangle relationships and the Pythagorean Theorem.
EquationsThis beefy module covers all things linear equations. This includes solving linear equations in one and two variables, graphing linear equations, and solving systems of linear equations.
Linear functions are the focus of this module. We will apply the rules of linear equations to real world functions.
In this module, we will cover statistics--specifically, we will analyze bivariate data--both numerical (scatterplots) and categorical data (two way tables).
This module focuses on irrational numbers including square roots. We will revisit the Pythagorean Theorem in this module.
Reasoning with EquationsThis first module that covers on Algebra 1 content will analyze equations in more depth, and consider several different types of inequalities.
exponential FunctionsThis Algebra 1 content covers arithmetic and geometric sequences and exponential functions.
