Thanks for visiting my web page. I am glad that you have landed here. This is my fifth year teaching math at Graham Middle School in Mountain View. I teach 7th and 8th graders and really enjoy making connections with students. I hope that all my students enjoy learning math as much as I enjoy teaching it.
I grew up in New York City, and received a bachelors' degree in American History from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. In 1999, I moved from Queens to California and haven't looked back. I have been married since 2003, and my wife and I enjoy watching our 7 year old daughter grow and develop into a confident and pleasant girl. Molly is entering 2nd grade at Willow Glen Elementary School and is in the two way bilingual immersion program. As a family we enjoy watching sports, going hiking, swimming, traveling, and playing board games and card games.
My Core Values
Perseverance is crucial
Students learn at different speeds. In my classroom, students are rewarded with a depth of understanding that often comes through struggle. I do not expect perfection, but I would like for all students to show progress throughout the school year.
Focus on Students
I believe that every student can achieve to the highest levels, and am singularly focused on delivered high quality instruction to each student at their level.
Communication is key
I place a heavy emphasis on communication. In addition to regular updates, I want to address any issues or concerns when they first arise in order to nip them in the bud.
Multiple Strategies
Throughout the school year, students will be exposed to several different ways to solve the same types of problems. It is important that students understand each solution method. Often times, one method will be a visual method.
